The elliptical does not permit resistance while heart rate is increasing. The elliptical's resistance typically slows you down as well.
Instead of squandering time on an elliptical machine, choose rowing. Rowing allows you to attain greater resistance and intensity while elevating your heart rate.
Replace the lat pulldown machine with pull-ups. Even if you have to do assisted pull-ups, this is the way to go.
Pull-ups are more useful and will stimulate more muscles. In a pull-up, your core is significantly more engaged than in a lat pulldown.
Normal pushups are beneficial, but hand-release pushups activate the entire range of motion.
People typically perform half pushups, in which they do not touch the ground. It's preferable to perform a complete range of motion; you'll gain strength more quickly.
Walk lunges instead of the stairmaster. The stair masterworks lower-body strength & glutes, while lunges stimulate more muscles & have a broader range of motion.
Another way to look at it is that lunges will train you to walk up the stairs. Walking up the stairs does not always make you an excellent lunge performer.
